One of my Brothers, Warrior Chaos, gave me permission to post this.
At the recent funeral of Spc. Peter Courcy -

It was a very emotional day for everyone present. Although I never knew Peter, as a Brother-in-Arms, I mourn him like he was blood. As I found myself breaking down during the ceremony, something a wise old soldier told me during another funeral of a fallen Brother came to mind and comforted me. It's something I'll never forget, and something I wanted to share for all Brothers and Sisters.

During that funeral, I was quite emotional. The old Vet asked me if I was OK, and I told him that I was tired of seeing Brothers killed, that his death was senseless and his life was cut short. He, like Peter Courcy, left behind a wife and a child that he'd never met. The old Soldier told me, "Soldier, understand one thing: when a soldier dies during battle, his life has not been cut short. He made a conscious decision to go into battle a brave man and risk his life for his Country and everything She stands for. When a Soldier dies in battle, his life is COMPLETE, regardless of how young he is. He died doing what he loved doing, and we will honor him for making the ultimate sacrifice for his Brothers and Sisters."

Rest easy, Peter. We honor you for your service and your sacrifice. Because of you, our world is a better place.

We will see you soon!

Your Brother-in-Arms,

Poco,

Thanks for posting this. After your PM, I made a point to introduce myself to your Brothers and passed along your message. During the funeral & before we were to leave to escort Cpl Courcy to the Cemetary, I had the pleasure of chatting with Chaos. Really nice guy.

Thank you, and all your Brothers, for your service. You have my respect and admiration.

Thanks to all that have serve and continue to serve. We should honor and respect all warriors not just those that fall in battle.
