A Clean Bike
Yesterday, I adjusted my drive belt on the '01 XL1200C since it was waaaay loose (it also eliminated my shifter "clicking" on downshifts: take note!) then I did all the brightwork. Today, I had to mount a new backrest on the '97 FLSTC and put on a Softail-style adhesive eagle vice the conch (fell off last run) and also did all the brightwork. Both days I (of course) went for a short cruise. Now I've noticed this before after 30-years of motorcycle riding (13 on HD), but it really struck me as bizarre this weekend: an emaculately clean (meaning polished, waxed, and bled on) bike will run better than a bike "just washed and wiped" and, especially, a dirty one. Is this true or is it just me?
