A Clean Bike

Yesterday, I adjusted my drive belt on the '01 XL1200C since it was waaaay loose (it also eliminated my shifter "clicking" on downshifts: take note!) then I did all the brightwork. Today, I had to mount a new backrest on the '97 FLSTC and put on a Softail-style adhesive eagle vice the conch (fell off last run) and also did all the brightwork. Both days I (of course) went for a short cruise. Now I've noticed this before after 30-years of motorcycle riding (13 on HD), but it really struck me as bizarre this weekend: an emaculately clean (meaning polished, waxed, and bled on) bike will run better than a bike "just washed and wiped" and, especially, a dirty one. Is this true or is it just me?

I don't know...but tell ya what...bring both your immaculate bikes to southern Ohio, I'll take 'em both out for extended rides, and give you my personal opinion...no, no, don't thank me, anything to help out a fellow forum member.
