Issue: What is the fastest stock Harley and how does it compare to the speed of a sport bike?
Some users feel that the V-rod is faster than a 600cc sports bike, while others think the sports bike are faster. Users will break down the differences in the engine and give their opinion of which bikes are fast and why.

These threads are always good for a laugh. The bench racing and flat-out misinformation always runs rampant!
Sportbikes are faster than ANY Harley, regarless of size, year or whatever.
This, of course, assumes equal rider skill. Harley's have lot's of torque and very low centers of gravity, making them easy to launch from a stop. Sportbikes have a high CG, no low end, and are generally ridden by clueless squids. If you're on a Harley and you 'beat a sportbike' it was the rider you whupped, not the bike.
BTW, You guys DID notice it's like 5 years old, right?

Cycle World mag. did a comparison test between the CVO Road Glide and the Honda FB6 last year. Both topped out at 126 and that was ECM limited.
The Honda was 12.2 and the CVO 12.4 in the 1/4.
A XR1200 will pull to redline and do 125. A Vrod will do 150 as will a Beull Ulysses.
That should be quick enough for most folks.
