I remember when taking the MSF basic rider course they stressed the risk you take being a biker. Even on your best day in a cage you can have an accident you didn't see coming. Being human and 52, I can't be aware of everything happening around me at every second. I'm not that good. Thats also one of the reasons I don't catch a buzz and ride anymore.

Yes BE CAREFUL - a lot of these "sounded" like alcohol related as well as stupidity. Just for perspective, " About 40,000 people die every year in the U.S. in automobile accidents.

Half of motorcycle fatalities in single vehicle crashes relate to problems negotiating a curve prior to a crash—
Almost 60 percent of motorcyclist fatalities in single vehicle crashes occur at night.

Last year, 4,008 people died in motorcycle crashes. That averages out to 80 per week nationwide

Don't ride into a corner doing 100 MPH at midnight and you cut your chances of being killed on a motorcycle in HALF.

Looks like half of these were due to rider error....as there are plenty of cagers out there who don't see us, there are a number of riders who exercise pretty poor judgement. Reminds me of the story of Arlington, TX mayor who a number of years ago bought a Harley and figured he could ride because he could ride a bicycle. The first time he was out of the driveway he failed to negotiate a turn which had gravel, was thrown 100 yards and nearly killed. A few common sense thought - a requirement to at least take a safety course. Dont we have that requirement for cars?
