Wheel Chair Carrier
#3
Would a trailer work? They have the lightweight chairs that fold together...might just fit right in. My son is a para and we're always trying to figure out ways to do things. As long as she can hold her balance it might be the way to go and extend your trips.....!

I agree with the trailer idea. Only other thing I can think of is kind of a flatbed sidecar that you could detach when you wanted to. Might even be easier for her to get from it to the bike, and the bike back to the chair if it was sitting right there next to her at the same height.
But it may be something you'd have to fabricate or have custom built.
Good luck, and God Bless you both.

My wife has M/S and needs a wheelchair when she is off the bike. I tow a Bushtec Turbo 2 trailor. She has a Quickie wheelchair. The wheels come off and it folds up. Check my album in my profile there is a picture of the set up and her on the chair.

We checked into side cars and for her she could not get in and out of them even the ones that flip up to open. We looked at one side car that would fit her chair. She said there was no way she was sitting in the chair going down the road. Of course my wife has had M/S for 20 years and can't move her legs much.

I'm a para and use a wheelchair full time. I'm putting a hitch on my trike and using a bike rack to fasten my wheelchair. Not yet done making the hitch, but as soon I do I'll post pics. Good luck to whatever you decide.

I saw a trike at Rolling Thunder a few years back that had a rail on one fender that a folded wheel chair fit on. No idea if it was a custom item or something available commercially.
