Anyone help me identify this engine's year?
I don't have a bike, so no vin number to work from, just the ten digit number on the engine case which is a Twin Cam B.
0470800296 From my research, I think the 04 is the year, but just want to confirm before I start going out and getting parts (ignition system, charging system, etc) thanks for any help |
That number doesn't look right for a VIN. Is that the number from the left case, near the front?
|
So just an engine? No title with complete VIN? Would hate to spend money on a motor with no papers........
|
I'll check with my wife about papers, but she didn't remember any. I originally purchased an EVO engine and I remember it had a title. The shop down in North Carolina let me exchange the engine (10% resotcking fee), but I can't honestly say I remember the paperwork although I do have the original sale documentation. Honestly, I had no idea this was such a big deal especially since I was putting it on a car, but I have learned. I guess bike engines get stollen a lot.
Phrogman, yes the number is from the engine case, cam cover I think below the oil filter. |
First number is the model year I think.
Looks to be a 2000 http://books.google.com/books?id=XHv...age&q=&f=false |
Thanks for the info. I went through the article and then went and checked my engine case and sure enough there is another number on the other side of the engine. I can't read it because it's mounted to the transaxle right now, so I'll have to get it later.
thanks for the help! |
Putting it in a car..................

That is awesome! Makes me really want to get mine going. Thanks for the inspiration.

After the warning about papers for the engine, I emailed the shop I bought it from and they are checking into what happened to the papers for me. It also turns out there is another serial number on the casing. Can't see it with it mounted to the transaxle.
