Who makes or sells the best leather chaps?

+1. I bought a pair of Antelope creek six years ago. I actually had the bottom of them folded in for about a half inch and sewed up to make a hem for double strength. They are worn but still in good shape. Get them long and don't cut them off too short. Nothing looks more dweebish then short chaps. If you added fringe to short chaps it gives you that gay howdy doody look. A real chick magnet----not. We don't have enough winter here to justify lined chaps. I only wear my chaps when it gets in the mid 60's or below. Chaps work to keep the wind from cutting through pants legs. They work well. I have been caught in the rain with them but I prefer a rain suit to chaps for rainy weather.

I switched from chaps to leather jeans and have never looked back. Much more protection in the event of a crash and they don't leave the family jewels exposed to the weather.

At 6'4" and a 36" inseam, I had mine custom made at Western Boot here in Colorado Springs. The legs are one piece and made to measure. I do not recomend using chaps in the rain, even a light rain will leave you looking like you pissed your pants.

Custom made
Depending on your build, you may have to have them custom made like I did. Because of my short inseam (29") and muscular thighs, I could not find anything "off the rack" that was a good fit.
Locate you local leather worker/seamstress and get measured up. A good set of custom chaps will probably cost you less than name brand (e.g. Harley) fits-all ones. And if the maker is experienced in chap making (mine was), you can get the features and style you want.
Use Doc Bailey's to keep them looking black and making them water resistant. Which reminds me, I've got about 7000 km worth of bugs to clean off of mine.
