Default Best Torque Wrench for Sportster?

Changing out exhaust and intake this week and I'm seeing that the general torque range for our bikes starts out at 6 foot pounds which equals out to 72 inch pound...

Anyway....every torque wrench at Auto Zone or Sears that I can find that is in reasonable price don't come near that low of number. The lowest one I could find STARTS at 10ft pound...

Any suggestions? Thanks!

You don't want to to use a torque wrench at the bottom or top end of their range, that's where they are the least accurate. What you need is an INCH lbs torque wrench.

Yeah, that is understandable Charley, I read another post of yours where you told a guy that; definitely makes sense. Any recommendations though? I've been looking around for Foot/Inches one but like I said...I can't find anything THAT low in numbers...the shops around here dont go below 120 inches for the bottom end...:-/

Default Sears

Sears has a decent 3/8in drive 25-250 in. lb. wrench for around 60 bucks. Model # 44593 (I think).

Wow I was looking at that to begin with but thought it said foot pounds...

Thanks man I will look into that one. Gotta pay to play I guess....wish I could find a break on one of these things though!

Lot a guys on here seem to like the Harbor Freight tools, including torque wrenches for less money than Craftsman. I have not tried them. Just passing on info.

Park Tool makes wrenches that I originally bought for my bike (pedal-type) and now use on the motorcycle as well. Do a google "shopping" search for "Park Tool Torque Wrench" and their 0-600 in/lbs model will pop up for around $50, and the 0-60 in/lbs one is around $20 I believe. They use the bending of the tool's shaft against a stationary pointer/gauge backplate--not sure as to the accuracy compared to other torque wrench designs, but I haven't had any issues stripping bolts or stuff rattling loose when I torque it to spec. so the accuracy is good enough for me.

Harbor Freight Tools - best price and good quality. Go ahead and get both the ft. lbs. and the in. lbs. I've had them for ten years and they are used often.
