As a father you should do the right thing. It is better to give than to receive, so you give the kids the pipes and you tell them how good you feel about giving and that they can learn from your example, then you get your pipes and everyone wins! You might need to throw a lesson in there about it being OK to regift in this case but it will all work out.

If the kids are getting U anything,,, drop a hint of pipes and maybe they will pool the money and santa will bring U some anyway.

Since you acknowledge your children and they know who their daddy is, you have money of your own and recognize the need for a budget, you solicit and respect the opinion of others, we already knew what the only possible answer was before you asked the question.
EBay for the pipes and sale prices on kids stuff found through internet searches, free shipping and no state tax. Yours is an easy problem.
The folks we should not forget, and help however we can, are those that must chose between food or a gift through no fault of their own..
