what's this worth?
'79 Sportster-all stock-8,810 miles-stored for 28 years-runs rough-original owner-kick start only. What do you guys think it's worth? Keep it and restore it or sell it? Any suggestions? Thanks!

79 XL is an odd duck. Parts can be hard to find.
Looks clean. My guess is around $2000-2500. |
Keep it and restore it. Looks pretty nice for a 30 year old bike. Not sure on the value. Depends on what it means to the buyer or seller.
|
hard to say - it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay.
last year my cousin sold a '77 Sportster for $1500. it was water damaged due to a sitting in a flood for several days. the motor and transmission was frozen, wheels pitted and rusty..... go figure. |
Keep it an get a folding shovel, and chop that bitch
|
To keep or sell is up to what you want to do, but I would say today its worth 2k to 3k maybe a little more in the spring
|
So far, it's been worth a few responses on a web forum...
I've seen prices around 2-3 grand for similar bikes, prolly near same shape. Dunno if they ever sold tho. |

That thing is in nice shape. I have no idea what you could sell it for but I wouldn't take anything less than $3k for it if it were mine. |
$2000 max you can buy a 2000 sportster for 3000 :icon_nic::icon_lolsign::icon_werd::icon_beerchug: :icon_laugh::icon_viking::icon_bike:

I have been seeing that year sporty going for $1,800 to $2,500 if you want to sell.
