Anyone tint or use transparency paint on Wind shield

Mine is scratched, on the riders side and the clear coating is just starting to come off. Man, that coating is really, really thin.

I know the shield is History, but wondered if anyone has tried or had any luck using something to tint one? with either tint spray, or transparency paint,,, even wondered if regular car window tinting would work...Like the tinted ones on the SG.

Being retired I have time to play with new Ideas in the Man Cave.....
Just playing with the idea and wondering how it would look after done doing it on a stock clear shield??.

Window tint is not going to work. Been tried lots of times before. They do make a tint you can spray on, some sign shops that do custom plastic sign faces can spray it. However it takes a really good person on the spray gun to get it to look right. The opaque nature of the plastic will make it look mottled if not done perfectly.

Thats what I wondered,, I looked up and saw the spray can stuff on line..
agree with Ya it would have to be a even coat or it would look like chit...

Like I said mine is toast anyway, now I am just playing to see if I can learn something....

I did see one that was painted a couple yrs ago, it was solid black... not bad, but not what I am wanting,, I'd still like to see though it...

thanks sarge

if you have that much time....and for the cost of the material.....go at it.
I don't have time, but maybe more money, so I would buy new.
In the long run, I bet I win. Although, my ultras winshield is rubbed from where I had one of those 'windshield pouches' on it. Since nothing is peeling, I will use it.

if you know how to use window tint it works fine....we've cut down windshields and tinted lots of them...no prob if you know how shrink the tint to fit the curves

Yep retirement is great,,,
Buying a new one is not a problem.

I just like to fiddle around with things on the bike in the winter time... Just though maybe someone esle had tried something before,, and I am wondering whether they got good or bad results, If something didn't work, I'd cross that off before trying..

Mine isn't peeling, more like every time I clean it the area where I am the loosing the protective film gets bigger..
Now it about 2" circle with the stratch in the middle. And I can feel a very tiny edge where the film is gone..and the windshield is a little duller in that area...

Think the first thing I'll try is the spray can like U said... and I believe I've read the shield is made of Lexan.. but not sure what the sprayed on film that is used for protection is made of....
