Default Question about Progressive Ins thru USAA

I have had Progressive for the last 7 years and I heard if I ran it through USAA which I am a member I could probably save some money. Progressive sent me my renewal for my 2010 Wide Glide at $675.00 which I thought was high. I contacted USAA and was advised I should consider changing my cash replacement value to total loss coverage and with that change my premium would be $568.00 if I paid the full amount due. I have no claims and my deductibles are $250.00 collision and $100.00 comp. I also have roadside assistance but no medical. To some of you that may have Progressive through USAA does this sound about right? I don't have to make the change until Mar 13th. One last thing even though I'm still with Progressive they would start me out with a new Policy # making me look like a new customer instead of an old customer any downside to that ? Thanks for your comments.

I just switched from progressive through USAA to State farm. I have 2 Bikes and needed to add one of my truck to State Farm to make it more cost effective.
The truck is competitive with USAA. I keep deductibles at 1000.00 to save on the monthly cost. SF has a 25.00 dollar deductible on comp. I Love USAA, but they do not have motorcycle coverage in TX. Both bikes are about 550 for a 6 month policy.

I just got my renewal from Progressive. With no claims or tickets it went up $80. I'm not renewing and let them know why. Check with markel ins. Came in about $360 for my SG

Did you actually compare rates with different deductibles? Usually, you don't actually save much with a higher deductible.

Insure my truck through usaa, but have in the past always done better with progressive for the bike. I own an 07 wg and it ran 425 dollars last year.
That's in northern colorado. If they raise my rates dramatically this year, I'll probably switch the bike over to usaa.

I've been a USAA member for 40 years and I insured both my bikes thru them with Progressive. I'm about to change to HD insurance becasue of the cost difference - aobut $100 per bike.

It does some times as much as 50 dollars a month. My thoughts are if I can spend 50 dollars a month and not give it to the ins company then that is great. The 1000.00 dollars is a chance that i am willing to take and so far it has paid of, in the last 10 years I have only paid it 1 time. 50 dollars x 3 cars x 12 months is a lot of cash.......

I've been a member of USAA for over 30 years, and have my truck insured with them, as well as all my other vehicles through the years. Because USAA doesn't offer motorcycle insurance in Texas, I went through them to Progressive the first year I owned my bike. I switched to Markel (HD) for lower rate. I saved over $200 annually.

44 years with USAA on everything but when I started riding again I learned they don't insure motorcycles as you all have. I took out a policy with Progressive and checked around and changed to Geico. Significant savings. John

I recently switched over to USAA after several years with Progressive. USAA got out of the motorcycle insurance business, and now uses Progressive. I contacted Progressive and was informed that the rates they quote to USAA members are the same they quote to everyone else. There is no specific benefit to insuring with Progressive through USAA.
