Default Looking for some advice

I'm looking at getting my first motorcycle in the next few months and was curious what you guys had to say. I'm a pretty big guy….6'3" tall and about 270lbs….I'm looking at getting the Iron 883. I don't have the money to get one of the high end, with my price range in the $7k-9500 price range. Any suggestions about this bike. I'm just worried a bit about where the pegs are and if my knees will be bent like crazy. Also is the the bike a comfortable ride. It'll more than likely be a 4 day a week bike of about 40 miles round trip.

Basically looking to hear what you guys have to say.
Thanks

Do you have a MC license? If you do I would recommend you test ride that bike but also a full size bike. You won't really know what's more comfortable at 6'3" without a ride but most dealers will let you test ride if your license is valid. Used is always an option if money is tight.

if you're looking at buying an Iron 883, id strongly recommend going on a diet. 270 lbs is a bit big for that bike.

You're a big lad, if it was me I'd be looking at a used dyna. 883 is a nice bike, but I'm thinking it just won't fit ya.

I'm 5' 10, 90kg, and I feel too big on an 883.

Wrong bike for you. Look at used touring bikes. You can find decent older RK's etc for around $10k.

Sorry, but you'll look like an elephant humping a Chihuahua on that bike. Are you set on HD, or will other makes/models work?

I'm 6'2 and road a Sportster comfortably for LOTS of miles. You might think about looking at a 1200 Custom instead of the 883. At your size, you'll appreciate the increase in power. Plus the 1200C has forward controls standard which is more comfortable for guys like us with long legs.

As someone else said, if you can afford it, you might think about a Dyna instead which is larger.

I would consider a Dyna or a Softail at that size.....you might be a bit big for a Sporty....just saying.....I am 6'1" 250 and I am too big for it ....you can find a nice used 07 or newer for under $10000

If not in a hurry to buy one look at buying something used. There is a lot of stuff out there some of it older in damn good shape you can get for a steel. I passed earlier this year on an 85 dyno shovel with 13k original miles. Had a Wide Glide front with a fat tire on it. It went for $4000.

Yesterday when I was at the shop that puts my tires on my bikes the owner was trading off an old ford van pickup he traded some work for. He was getting a 2000 Dyna with windshield, bags, and corban seat. it has a little over 20k original on it and is asking $4500 for it.

My son picked up an '01 RoadKing in good shape for $7000. His first out of pocket bike.

Like has already been said you might find a sporty a little on the uncomfortable side. I have a '13 Wide Glide in the shop bought it on my wife's birthday back in October. I haven't put 1000 miles on it yet. I am 6' 1". My RoadKing is a more comfortable ride.
