I ordered the VIED just for some minot tuning. I live in the cold country so for fall weather riding I could use a little heat.

If you remove the cats, do you have to go get your bike tuned/remapped? Sorry guys, its my very first Harley, I do have a manual on the way so i can learn to wrench it myself..i catch on quick since i worked as an auto mechanic, but that was 15 yrs ago.
Negative ghost rider ....

On the 'Tommy gun' exhaust on the Fat Bob and new Wide Glide the cat is in the section of pipe where the front and rear head pipes come together in the common collector ... can't remember who, but someone cut theirs open and posted a photo of it ....

Just because you replaced the mufflers with slip-on's doesn't mean you got rid of the cats on your '10 FXDWG ... sorry to be the bearer of bad news ....

What I noticed when I was buying my Dyna Custom was that any Dyna Tommy Gun exhaust models ( WideGlide & Fatbob) 09 & 10 had catalytic converter possibly in the head pipe and / or collector. I assume head pipe since there is a heat shield with venting. I could be wrong on location but the owners manual states WideGlide and Fatbob have catalytic converter. My 09 FXDC did not come with muffler heatshields and I noticed all the 10s had them. I felt cheated and wanted them but I added the Stage 1 with older SE slip ons which were smaller circumference so the heat shield would not match. NOW I KNOW, the heat shield is on the 10s because of the muffler cats inside. Glad I got a 09. Wonder if there is different ecm tune on the 10s.

Where is the cat on the 2 in to 2 Dyna models? To de cat, do you have to cut both pipes?

Flow tests indicate that modern cat converters are not very restrictive at all, expecially when new.

Reason most people remove them is due to the heat they produce (500º) and in search of better sounding pipes.
