something about my Softail that I just can't get over
Pretty much at any speed over 60-65 the wind wants to rip my right leg off. Even after I stuck peg stirrups on it last spring, it still does it.
Ideas? (and don't say just keep it under 60) |
Wind deflectors?
Not a big fan of these but my HD service mgr. has them on his RK and he wouldn't be without them. Don't want anything that looks like a ferring but you may have to choose .... comfort or style. http://www.realhog.com/list.cfm?mode...category_ID=38 |
Did about a hundred miles on I-70 today and that's what got me thinking about this.
Did try resting my leg on the air cleaner (which helped some), but that's a good way to smash yer cleaner. Do floorboards do this as well? |
Yeah, I have the same problem on my Dyna. Must have something to do with the turbulence created by the breather or maybe Ionic winds. I just hook the toe of my boot under the brake pedal.

I used to have trouble keeping my feet on the boards on the highway.
Put some extensions on and no longer have that problem. |
Slow down. Just kidding. I actually experience the same thing on my Softail Custom.

Is it the wind on your feet, or the wind going up your pant leg? Try wearing longer, pants that are more tapered at the ends instead of a boot cut type of pants. OR, if you wear engineer type boots, try tucking your pant legs into the boots.. They also sell straps you can use to gather the bottom of your pant leg to keep wind going up. Try one of those ideas and see it it helps

I had that problem on my Low Rider. But only when I had my feet on the highway pegs. I always figured it was because the air cleaner caused me to hold my leg a little different. Never had the problem when I had my feet on the mid controls.

Ya need to build up the muscles in your right leg.

This very thing made my iron butt ride an excruciating experience after so many hours. I bought stirrups at the dealership the very next day after arriving. Helped big time for me though.
