Default Old 47 FL with side car

Caught this at a fly in at the Abilene Ks. airport today. Looked pretty much original, and pristene. Did not get a chance to talk to the owner. It was a Knuckle Head. Reminded me of my 42 flat head except for the engine.

Very cool. I'd love to ride a bike with a sidecar just to try.

I had forgotten how small the tanks were on those old ones. On my 42 flathead the left tank was for "105" wt. HD oil, and the right tank was for gas. I probably never had enough money to fill it anyway. LOL. On mine, the left tank saw mostly 90 wt. gear lube, as HD oil was to expensive, and the nearest dealer was 50 miles away. It ran a lot of miles on the gear lube without problems though. I still remember the drill to start it on those cold mornings. You just don't forget those kind of things.
