What's The Experts Think...
Thinking about giving the Softail to the boy and getting a 2010 Ultra. Gotta give them answer in morning. Roughly 22,500.00 out the door piped with V&H duals. Will I enjoy as much as my Standard or kick myself for even asking this. Guess I'm just having a hard-time coming to grips with spending that much on a bike.
It's not what you spend it's what is the trade in is and is your boy good for that little bit? That is your choise only and maybe the wife.
Not as sporty, a little top heavy but a whole lot more comfortable. I kept the Dyna (daughter now rides it) and the CFO has a Fat Boy. When we take trips though we are 2 up on the Ultra. I will ride either one of the others if I'm by myself just crusing though.
Have you test ridden the bagger? May be the best/worst thing you ever did. But if the boy has the ST you can always get it back.
It's like apples and oranges. I can't see me ever having an Ultra as an only bike but that's just me.
If the dealer does rentals see if they would rent you one for half a day to be applied to the purchase.
You won't regret it, you may never go back. I went from a Softail ST to the bike you see below. I'll never go back, it's night and day. Honestly, I'll probably never own a Softail again, but that's just me.
Different ride, but it's still all good. Can I be "the boy"? I wouldn't mind having a ST in the garage. :)
Not many riders are ever sorry when they move up to the Ultra Classic. ... I never was.:)
When I traded a Softail for my first bagger I thought I'd made a mistake..but you soon get used to the handling and boy can you press on with 'em...
