Default TIP code while riding...

2014 FXDB here.

I've been randomly getting the TIP code just while I'm riding. Always on the highway...just straight up riding, not in turns or leaning at all. Cruising, minding my business and the bike dies with the TIP code showing on the dash. Doesn't spook me as I'd just hold the clutch in, turn the bike off and restart the bike (all while still coasting) and not skip a beat, but the bike will not lose power as long as it's rolling. Even with everything off, the dash is still illuminated. I have to slowly coast over to the shoulder and come to a complete stop (then the dash goes dark), hit the start and get back on my way, merging back onto the freeway. So far, this hasn't been an issue, but it worries me if this happens in a section of highway with no shoulder. We've got a long construction project going on one of our highways with large diverted sections with concrete barriers on each side with NO shoulder for miles and if this happening there, it would be sketch for sure as I have to come to a complete stop to reset this code.

There is no rhyme or reason to what seems to cause it. Again, never happens while turning or leaning, just straight up cruising. Is this TIP sensor on the ECM directly on this model or is it a separate sensor?

Sounds pretty dangerous. Imagine of it happens just as you pull out from a stop into oncoming traffic or if it happened while merging into heavy traffic on the highway.

Exactly...it's getting a bit worrisome. I've been lucky so far...

Anybody else experience this issue?

Did a quick google search and it is replaceable part. There seems to be YouTube video showing where/how to replace. I don’t have a manual for your bike.

The TIP sensor is a part of the TSM or TSSM depending on which you have.
You might make sure it is properly located and secured so it it is not moving around.
