I think it's ok, but not worth the price (I think Mobil 1 is the same if not cheaper and better quality). Plus, it doesn't work quite as well in all 3 holes like they tout (supposedly).
I have read many discussions about oil which is better etc. and read alot of reports also, bottom line use what you think is the best for you.
Some like syn type oils and some the dino oil.
High priced and not a true synthetic as compared to say Mobile. Can only get at dealer and adding that cost of of going there and returning vs going to say walmart-which I hate-or to local shop gives HDs brand a bad rap.
Still haven't heard WHY? Is it noisier? Does it break down quicker? How does the fact that it is not a "true" synthetic hurt it's preformance? Is the tranny noisier ? I am curious. I've read it will make the clutch plates slip. Has anyone had this happen? It seems strange that a corp. that does make a fine road machine would advise use of an inferior lubricate.
Check out the oil threads in the tech section. Some pretty thorough information there. The advantage to using pure synthetic oil is it's superior shear qualities and high heat resistance. Since 30% of the engines cooling is done by the oil that's important. As for the transmission, a good quality synthetic gear lube like Redline Shockproof (my pick for my bike) beats any motor oil regardless of quality. You can get by with Syn3 or any good synthetic in the tranny, but true gear lubricant is the best by far. I use Amsoil 20-50 in the crankcase, Redline Shockproof Heavy in the Trans, and right now I just happen to have Syn3 in the primary because I just had a bottle handy and would rather keep the Amsoil for the engine.

IMHO, the Syn3 is great for the Primary and the Engine. There is better, how much better is probably in the single digit %%%. My experience with the Syn3 is recent and only on my 2002 FXDWG3. I changed the oil (three places) with Syn3 and the transmission started clanking into gear, and I really didn't notice how much until I changed to Redline Shockproof Heavy. The trans shifts like teenage titty smooth with the Redline.
