Do it while the engine's running ?
I hadn't really thought of it this way, but .........
A mechanic was removing a cylinder head from the motor of a Harley motorcycle when he spotted a well-known heart surgeon in his shop. The surgeon was there, waiting for the service manager to come and talk w/him about installing an SEST on his SERG & then dyno-ing it. The mechanic shouted across the garage, "Hey, Doc, can I ask you a question?" The surgeon a bit surprised, walked over to the mechanic working on the motorcycle. The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked, "So Doc, look at this engine. I open its heart, take the valves out, fix 'em, put 'em back in, and when I finish, it works just like new. So how come I get such a small salary and you get the really big bucks, when you and I are doing basically the same work?" The surgeon paused, smiled and leaned over, and whispered to the mechanic... "Try doing it with the engine running." |
Smart man, thats why he's a doctor and the other guy is a grease monkey. : )

similar story...... a long time proctologist gives up the trade to live out his dream of becoming a harley mechanic. For his final exam at trade school he has to completely disassemble and reassemble an engine. When he gets his grade back he sees 150% for his grade and goes to talk to the teacher. The teacher calmly explains that 50% of the grade was for tearing the engine down, 50% for reassembling it correctly, and the last 50% was for doing the entire thing through the exhaust pipe.

Another point of view is things don't go right with engine work can always resort to 2lb hammer.Hopefully sugeon isn't the same kind of mechanic.
