LRS 2nd shields - opinions

I want to pose a hypothetical question.

I need Business advice.

Alistair and I have been contemplating selling our second shields (shields deemed not perfect due to cosmetic flaw). The question is, Would selling the second shields detract from the purpose of buying or selling a perfect shield? and if we were to sell them how much would we ask people to pay for them? Obviously they would need to be discounted but what would it be worth and what is fair? I suppose it would depend on the quality of the second shield.

Feedback please.

We have already started to offer some on ebay but I consider you all to be the experts so please weigh in.

Easy way to try one out thats for sure. And if you love the style you could buy a unblemished one later.

I bought two of your shields back when you were first getting started. I have used your 6" shield exclusively since. As far as selling seconds, I would be leery of that as reputation is primary. All it would take is a couple of less than happy buyers to ruin the goodwill that I believe you have established. JMHO

I bought one of your blems off eBay, and I am completely satisfied with my purchase. The imperfections never bothered me in the first place. The shield obviously works as well as "perfect" one. But, then again, I'm not one of those who can't stand nicks or dings on my scoot. I will buy another blem from ya'll.

Just my two cents ...

I don't think anyone would find anything wrong with offering an "optically imperfect" windshield directly from your company at around a 25%- 35% discount. I would recommend however that you distinctly mark these blems (maybe brand the word "BLEM" or "OPTICALLY IMPERFECT" into them) so there is no mistaking the difference. You wouldn't want to have your product image and reputation take a hit because of someone reselling these blems as the top line product.

By the way when can we expect something for the Softail models... say a short shield for an '01 Fat Boy?
