Great news about the new 2011's

this is my take from what i've seen so far in the new 2011's. it gives us a whole year to wait for some real changes for 2012.

Surgjr 07-28-2010 01:57 AM

RKC did get a 103

Bfazona 07-28-2010 07:12 AM

I think the 103 option is a step in the right direction, but should have been standard on the Touring models like some of the rumors we heard. Just a matter of time until the 96 gets replaced with the 103 in the Touring line.

will2002 07-28-2010 09:19 AM

My checkbook won't have any problem at all waiting!:(

frozensoul 07-28-2010 09:33 AM

i like the white street glide but dont see much in changes that would make me even consider spending any cash. maybe next year.

mtyson227 07-28-2010 09:48 AM

I have no regrets on my '10 SG purchase in May. I've already converted to a dual exhaust.

Navy Mustang 07-28-2010 10:24 AM

The MoCo can't win with some folks. If they had made "real" changes for the '11 model year (such as liquid cooling for all bikes, 110s for all Touring bikes, etc...) people would bitch that they're not honoring their heritage and are succumbing to the wiles of the RUBs and the part-time biker types... I think H-D is doing a pretty good job of updating their unique product line and keeping the majority of their dedicated customer base happy while still managing to attract new ones. Sweeping change at the MoCo would be certain death...

hougz79 07-28-2010 11:45 AM

I'm content with my 2010 SG. Little pissed they went back to duals and I got stuck with the one year of the single pipe. But the 2011 duals have a CAT as well, so they'll still need to be replaced.....

The CVOs are pretty stunning for 2011 though.....

And I like how the Fat Boy got rid of the ugly paint job and recieved the tank medallion from the Fat Boy Lo.

UltraClassicElectraGlide 07-28-2010 11:53 AM

Great news about my '010; it's paid for, and thankfully, nothing in the 2011 line-up will make me want to change that.

Yeah, and a nice price increase as well.

Just put a 103 kit in your 2010 and you have the same thing. Then instead of running the 1/4 mile in 14.2 you'll be able to do it in maybe 14 flat. :icon_woot:

2013 would be my guess.

Reblyel 07-28-2010 08:57 PM

Glad I went with the 10 RK...colors suck this year

As a SofTail fan I really like that they improved the paint schemes of the Cross Bones and Fat Boy. Those bikes look so much better. I'm sure that the 103 will probably standard on all bikes next year. As for ABS on SofTails, we have always had them. There is no way you can lock up that POS front brake.

The problem with the 103 option is it comes as part of $2k power package...a BB Kit is cheaper if you don't want the other adds that the package includes. HD has a new motor designed for '12, and it's not H2O cooled... there cleaning stock on 103 kits to make room...mark my words.

DeafUltra 07-29-2010 09:11 AM

Only thing I liked was the Ultra Classic in Apple Green/Black, but it doesn't justify me in getting rid of my '09 UC in Flame Blue Pearl/Pewter Pearl.

Not quite as big a price jump as it first appears.

2010 Road King Classic (black) $17,999, Security system $370, ABS option $845 = total $19,214 with a 96 cu in engine.

2011 Road King Classic with 103 cu in, ABS, security system standard - $19,499. So essentially you're paying $285 for the bigger engine. That's a way better deal than buying a 96 and upgrading, assuming of course you want ABS.

assuming you want ABS AND security AND a 2011 road king classic.

If you want to trade in your 96" to get a 103 then go for it. I'm sure the dealer will give you a great price on your trade. The 103 should be STANDARD with NO price increase or at least not part of any package.

Your point was that there is a significant price increase. I'm only pointing out that, apples to apples, for the RKC it's not all that big. Obviously that's not true for bikes where you'd have to purchase the Power Pack (or whatever it's called)

I could be mistaken, but don't you have to buy the security system no matter what? I think it's just a pricing gimmick to list it separately.

I agree the 103 itself shouldn't cause a price increase. The cost to Harley to procure the larger pistons should be minimal, and the cylinders and assembly labor costs should be the same as the engine is built. I'd bet that $285 difference is about $275 in profit!

That doesn't jive, they still make 95" kits for the 88. Why would they want to use up all the 103 if they have a new engine coming out? People will still have 96 and want to upgrade to 103.
Not saying they don't have a new engine coming out, who knows, but I'm sure they didn't say; hey we need to get rid of the 103 kits because we have a new engine on the way.

no, you don't have to get the security. or at least you didn't. now, if you want security, you have to get the abs (or vice versa).

this is as a 'factory option'. you can still get the security added by the dealer when you purchase the bike. but, the dealer is gonna hit you with labor when they install it....

fixedmlc 07-29-2010 12:30 PM

I like the orange with black flames on the Wide Glide.

dirtyharryfxrt 07-29-2010 02:08 PM

Well the good news is they don't change much every year or else they would look like goldwings. With emissions and what not soon the Harley may be just a Honda someday.

khill1984 07-31-2010 11:43 AM

The only ?? left is RG Custom or ultra

UltraDuke 07-31-2010 11:58 AM

2013 is the 110th anniversary. all bikes are gonna get a 110cu engine, water cooled and standard 7 speed tranny. but i am just passin on the info that my second cousin twice removed who knows a guy who is the brother in law to a guy who sweeps the factory floor told him.

xwhyz1959 07-31-2010 08:39 PM

The Softail Customs are gone as well.
