Mystery blood on my gas tank...

Mystery blood on my gas tank...
I have two garages, one is a two car attached on the top story of the house, the other is a one car garage/workshop attached on the bottom story facing the back yard. The bottom garage is where I keep my bike, tools, lawn tractor, etc. I live in a rural area and pretty much keep the bottom garage open whenever I'm home.
So, yesterday I'm doing yard work while my wife and kids are at the in-laws. I'm in and out of the garage all morning and decide to go in the house for awhile and have some lunch. Come back out after lunch, walk into the garage, and see two reddish dime sized spots on the gas tank of my bike. I walk over and run my finger over one of the spots and it turns out to be blood. It's fresh and it's not mine. I hadn't been anywhere near the bike before lunch.
I did a quick visual check of the rest of the bike and nothing else seems to be amiss. I can't see any evidence of tampering with the bike, nothing else in the garage appears to have been touched, and my dog, who was outside the whole time and barks at *everything*, was silent the whole time I was inside.
So, any theories on where this mystery blood came from? Could it have been some kind of critter? If someone knows enough to know I've got a bike in my garage, they would also surely know I have a shooting range on my property as evidenced by the frequent gun fire. The bottom garage can't be seen except from the rear of the house and I've got 500 acres of undeveloped forest behind my property. I just have a hard time believing anything on two legs would have ***** big enough or a brain small enough to **** with my stuff and risk ingesting multiple 5.56 rounds.
