Why can't I do it?

Got all the way into the finance office today on a '11 Street Glide spec'd exactly like I wanted, at the price I wanted, and the monthly payment that I wanted with the interest rate that I wanted, and I still couldn't force myself to sign the papers. They were even giving me all but $100 back on the Sporty that I bought two months ago! Why am I so damn cheap?!

I feel your pain, making payments sucks even if it is within range. I hate making payments but I wanted the bike that bad. You must have some strong feelings towards debt and payments to walk away at that point! Damn!

Wish our government had that attitude.

I dont know why are you that damn cheap. Just buy the thing and be happy instead of whinning on the forum! DO IT!

If they're giving you everthing you want, that's rare. Take advantage and get the ride you want and enjoy.

If you have doubts about it, there's probably a good reason for that. Maybe somewhere inside you know it's financially irresponsible. I've made a lot of irresponsible decisions in life, and I truly regret many of them. I have paid dearly for them.

You have a Sporty? Jeez, ride it. Forget about dreaming about "more". It's a sickness that will never stop. Set up a special bank account, not at your regular bank, and deposit a set amount in it each month. If you have to, you can use the money for bills. If you get to the point where you have enough and you haven't had to raid it, then buy a new bike.

Take it from an old man who wasted a lot of time and money doing stupid things...

Someone once said: I spent most of my money on motorcycles, whiskey and women; the rest I just pissed away. Your money, your life, your choice.

WWECOUGAR Sep 14, 2010 08:29 PM

Maybe because you like your Sportster and can't justify spending alot of money?

streeteagle Sep 14, 2010 08:45 PM

You must have had a gut feeling that it was a mistake, for whatever reason. Sleep on a week or so, in the meantime enjoy your Sporty!

Could it be because inside you knew they were front-loading the price of the new bike to offset the great deal on the practically new trade-in Sportster? Or that they were giving you a quiet interest screwing with the dealer financing. Keep the Sportster for awhile (or forever) and join a credit union for some decent financing, if you decide to borrow to buy another bike when you feel comfortable doing so. Harley Finance can't touch credit union rates.
