OK So i need to rant. I ordered my twisted spokes from American Classic Motors the first week in July (mistake number one) When I got them 3 weeks later, I got a set of straight spoke wheels.... Nice but not what I ordered so after haggling with the guy to fix it I send them back and 4 or so weeks later I get my wheels.... Nice wheels I think. Take them to my local indy and he says I'll have them on by the end of the day. I'm finally gonna get my wheels on I think after almost 3 months of waiting. He calls me up and says hey man your gonna have to have a spacer between your pulley and wheel your belt hits the tire. So I get pissed and he says I'll go ahead and install the front. Guess what another call that day to tell me the front don't fit either. Holy hell I'm thinking how can they get this wrong again. So then DNA wants my local indy to just jimmy rig a spacer for there wheels. Both he and I say not happening we didn't make the wheels. So finally after multiple phone calls and pretty much no help from good ol AMC, I get DNA to decide to over night spacers to me. That was Thursday and they didn't make it here yet so my bike is at the shop broke down this weekend because DNA sends you wheels that you have to rig to get them to work. I personally will never deal with them again after getting a Horribly bad taste in my mouth.

sorry to hear about that. hate to say it now, but there's about a million threads in here about bad experiences with DNA wheels. but i'm glad you're posting another one so that someone else may see this and avoid possibly making a bad purchase. hope everything gets fixed.

We just made spacers for mine. While I get everyones frustration, and if I were doing it again I would skip Dna because of their lack of customer service, I luckily have had no issues with mine, and the money I saved on DNA is still on the plus side for me at this point.

That said,
I run tubes. I would run tubes in ride wrights, HD, whatever. If it's spoked, it needs to have tubes regardless.

Well, I did save some money on the wheels but at this point not worth it to me. I may get raped on labor for all the BS the shop has had to deal with but I will say they have been more than friendly and nothing but helpful to me. He just said for Liability reasons he couldn't make spacers for me was totally capable but just didn't want to be liable for the wheels. I understood his point. I just hope to god the ones they send me are right but I'm skeptical already because they seem to be pretty incompetent about their own stuff by the vibe I got. I was gonna put them on myself and I decided not to. I would have had hell because I honestly didn't know what I was doing, just got a service manual and thats about it

You need a new Indy. Unless you pay big bucks, custom wheels are "fit-all" and require custom spacers. Any Indy worth his salt, would have an assortment of spacers and after a few simple measurements, would have you up and running.

Dead nuts on , you have to keep in mind aftermarket part suppliers rarely do model specific applications WAY to many variables . Harley loves to make everything just a bit different between models so people like yourself who don't want to or haven't the talent to deal with making things work are locked on the MoCo tit through the dealers and overpriced parts .
Man my home garage shop is better equipped than most Indy's because custom stuff is all I do and there is no exact fit till you make it that way .

Local HD dealer told me the ThunderStar mags I was looking at would never fit a shovelhead told him to check the bike outside the service door , asshole wouldn't talk to me after that .

If you want it make it work for you that's all and if your pissed about having to pay to have things done get a few tools , parts books , and get your own hands dirty you'll be a better man for it .

Well, at least I know that now. I didn't know that before so in the long run I can make these wheels work that's the main goal here anyway. As far as indy's I haven't found many to choose from here and the local HD shop I hate dealing with those guys. Thanks guys for the in site. I've gotten pretty frustrated with all this BS just to get some wheels on my bike, I thought it should be way less complicated

Harley makes some very nice looking wheels and usually you can buy two for less than one of the high dollar 'aftermarket' wheels where one costs you one arm, one leg, one nutt and half your pecker!!

I don't know about the rest of ya'll, but I need to keep as much of what I have as I can!!!! :icon_banana:

Im runnen DNA wheels (second set) and have no probs with them. And YES i had to have new spacers lathed in....big f'n deal....sounds like your indy needs to pull thier heads out of thier a$$es....Maybe in ur case!!! Don't blame the wheel..blame the guy installing it...lol..just sayen. Good Luck!

I was looking at some wheels for my bike.. they were used. My local shop told me they wouldn't bolt in.. They axle was 1" mine was 25MM .. He said he could make em fit by machining the used ones out and putting in new bearing tubes. He also stated I might need a spacer or two.. Seems to be common work on motorcycles.
