Thanks, folks. Tried a bandanna and it was pretty effective.

I find if I use a windshield I get hungrier and need to stop more often to eat. Bugs are loaded with protien and carbs. You save a ton of money by just opening your mouth.

You forget about bugs are not the only thing hitting your bike. I do allot of highway riding and see things like barrels hit my bike a car must of hit it. I say nice color of orange flying in the air. With out a shield I would have that barrel in my lap. I hit 2x4's, truck rubber parts of tires, couple good size rocks, birds, paint, tools, if you name it someone has hit it. I'm glad I don't have to use my face for those things.

I use a fleece-lined bandana with a velcro attachment. They sell them in sporting goods stores for snowboarders. These things are great for kleeping your face warm and blocking all the bugs and sand and small stuff. I got mine at Dick's Sporting Goods.

Here's one

High wind actually "bugs" me more than the bugs. I used to ride with a ws all the time, but have gotten used to not having one, and don't mind any more. When one hits me hard, just makes me go faster, which is fun!
