A long time ago.
I thought I would share a short story with you all.
I'm a OTR Truck driver and I used to work at a gas station, and next door to the G/Station was a tattoo shop, The guy's that worked there all had hogs. and that is where The dream began.
I alway's wanted to be a OTR Truck driver and while working at the G/station I meant a Old Guy Named Pete, Pete was a OTR truck driver and he had a old 47 Knucklehead that he rode around on, We became instant friends.. Later on Pete had job problems and had to come off the road. He got a job as a parts clerk at the Old Harley Shop, I worked in the evening and lots of times I would go to the shop and hang out with Pete and the boy's back in the back of the shop, Before I went to work.. I learned alot about The history of HD, and I just didn't quite fit in Not having a hog. One day I went down there and the Head Wrench said he had something I might be interested in. He told me he had a 1952 Panhead basket case. He told me that he would put it together and get it running and would sell it to me for $ 1,200.00 Bucks.{twelve hundred dollars} You got a deal I said. Well I saved and saved then the motor in my only transpotation blew up and the bike was done and the Mech needed his money... Ol that bike was a beaut.. But I had to let him sell it...
As some of you know, I carried this dream of having a HD for about twenty five years. a couple weeks ago I got my Hog.'
My Friend Pete Dunlap { Dirty Pete} passed away a few years ago, And his sister told me to come over and get anything I wanted of his. I took his Easy Rider Mag's he had them all the way back to the beginning of easy rider.
I called Pete"s sister yesterday and told her about me getting a roadKing and Asked if I could have Pete's old Helmet, She said to come and get it and next weekend when I'm off the road, I'm goin to go after it,,.. I would love to ware it on One road trip just to honor him. Pete was What some New Yorker's would call a STAND UP GUY, or some down south would call a good old boy.. he had no enemy's..they just don't come any better then Pete. Lots would take advange of his kindness and I reckon he knew they were putting it on him.. Thats all I got,, you all have a good one...
