The term "HOG"

Because, back in the day, they were considered "big pigs" of the biker world when compared to other lighter/nimble scoots...sueeeeeeeeeee

The term "HOG"
Why do people refer to Harleys as hogs? I was under the impression that it stood for Harley Owners Group. In that case, it makes no sense to say that I'm riding a HOG. It seems that most of the people I hear it from are from non-riders describing riders. IE, a non-riding co-worker asked me today if I had my hog garaged for the winter.

I've read it on here before, but I can't quite recall exactly. Something about back when Harleys were raced alot (30's?), nickname was earned back then. Harley Owners Group is just a play on that nickname.

In 1920, the term HOG started because the Harley-Davidson racing team carried their mascot, a pig, on a victory lap after each won race.
Harley Owners Group is just a play on that nickname - This is correct also.
