Default Problem with Harley Davidson Steel Toe Boots

I recently bought a pair of HD Dipstick steel toed boots. I laced up and they felt pretty good so I went to take a ride and the darned steel toe won't fit under my shifter. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you resolve it? I have a heel shifter on the Road King but I really don't like using it. I am somewhat surprised that Harley didn't check this out before introducing a a boot that won't fit it's own equipment. I like the idea of having the protection of the steel toe. The boots are a little stiffer and heavier than my old ones but I was counting on them breaking in a little. The ankle protection was superior to my Timberland boots I've been wearing.

odd, i have some cheaper caterpillar ST's that I wear and no problem fitting under the shifter on my street bob (mid controls)

they do get cold though, but i'm probably going to add the $60 heated insoles to solve that for long rides (wool socks solve it up to a couple hours so far, but after that it gets a little bad)

You CAN adjust the shifter height to where you need it to be.

lol, this can't be serious.

The shifter adjusts up and down and if you really want to be precise, you can adjust the linkage for small amounts of play.
