You have a great opportunity to upgrade to an advanced module that will improve performance. Or a trusty stock one with preset operations.

I just put a crane HI4E module on my '86 Evo and I'm impressed. There's several to chose from and you don't have to replace anything else in the ignition system to use it.

Are you familiar with performance ignition systems?

I put a link to the thread I started about my experience with the ignition system on the older Evos

I read that Harley discontinued them because they were having problems with them breaking down at highway speeds. It happened to me! I had to put a stock module in for the time being because that's all the dealer had. I am looking at a Dyna ignition kit. they are expensive but as the previous poster stated, they have more adjustments and are much more tunable to your riding style.
Also as stated ablove, you can still get the HD module if you want.
