Hopefully it wasn't the cure for cancer. |
Some modern day "techs" have no idea how to work on the older bikes/cars. Had a "tech" call me at home a while back, wanted to know how to diagnois a 70's alternator off a chev. I grew up with this stuff, so recalling "how to" was easy. Ask a new grad from any school how to replace points and cond, you may be surprised on the answer.

Nobody wants to work on those old POS bikes. Nothing but junk.
Lucky for you, I have a place for you to donate those old Shovels, Pans, and Knuckles when you can't find anyone to work on them anymore. I know it is a burden on myself but I am willing to help you out and take them. Just let me know. |

Do a little research into the FTC's dealings with import auto manufacturers bet you'll run across at least references if not specifics .

You would think that with sales being in the dumper in many areas they would
take any work they can get. I'd bet many shops are keeping their heads above water only because of a busy service dept. |
Here in Eugene/ Springfield, Oregon there are 6 or so small indy shops including my brother's shop (Greg Coen Motor Company) and the HD stealer shop. The dealership will only work on twin cams. Most of the indy shop will only work on Evo or older. GCMC will work on new or old (just no Iron head sportsters). Their specializing in fuel injected bike building with a fuel service shop ( boring etc) has built them a great reputation.
It's rough having a family shop to go to and only a mile from my house. The tools and lift are there for me to use if it's not too busy. |
