Engine nicknames?
This is a weird question but has had me wondering for awhile.
All the older Harley Engines have names such as the knucklehead, panhead, shovelhead..etc. I was wondering about the nicknames of the newer engines from the Evolution to the present day engines. I have heard people refer to the Evo as the "blockhead"... What are the names of the newer engines if they have any? What have you heard? |
Twin-Cam = Twinkie.

I have a couple of Harley history books that call the Twin Cam a "Fathead". Never caught on apparently.

I wonder if some of those names were used internally at H-D. EVO and Twinkie are common names for them. I've never heard a different term for the Revolution engine. |
Evo & Twin-cam

around here they just call them Evo's and TC's / Twinkies.

I think American Iron magazine calls em Blockhead and Fathead. H-D never called them anything until recently. They were called E or F for Knuckleheads and Pans. Whatever alphabetical designator was how H-D called em. Knucklehead & Panhead were enthusiast names. Now H-D uses em.
