The argument about WHICH BRAND of Oil is the best is so subjective it's annoying to repeat.
I read an Article, in the summer, that ranked Royal Purple as one of the lowest.
This is my belief....
I will choose Synthetic Oil over Dinosaur Oil.
I generally use Mobil 1 Oil, as I have for decades, but if a competitor is on Sale, I will switch.
I stay with Top Tier Synethic Oil versus the crapshoot oil you may find in the discounted stores or flea markets.
I will choose a great Oil Filter because that is a huge part of the Oil Cooling and Cleansing system.
Royal Purple vs Amsoil vs. Mobil vs. Red Line...blah blah blah.
I'm sick of it.......

See ya on the road....

Well, here's the updated Amsoil white paper, on 40 weight and 50 weight motorcycle specific oil. Royal Purple was last in the wear category on both weights.

I agree the test is procedure is flawed. The tests I've seen, where they use an oil in an engine over a very long period of time and then disassemble it & inspect it for wear is far superior. Those tests pretty much showed any quality oil works fine.

No one ever talks about what these ultra-slicks do long term use on piston rings (oil consumption). Rings require a certain amount of friction to work properly.

Tests are very specific, way to many variables unless you exactly the specific useage and oils. I will say this, we used RP twice in our stock cars and gave the rest away, just would not hold its viscosity. Mobile 1, Brad Penn our the"special" Castrol is our choice for automotive type engines. Amsoil in the bikes if you wanna do all three holes is good with that oil, the Mobile 1 is good in the bikes as well. Ralph
