Touring vs Softail/Dyna Gear ratios
#11
my 09' Dyna was a dog! 6th gear was for only the flattest road and a speed above 70 mph. Now with 106" and torque cam the puppy likes the big road and eats it up from 55 mph to ? in 6th. About 6:30AM today the Interstate was all mine at 80 mph and singing a song that I love.

I added the Dnya numbers and can not understand ( I'm dumb) that with the same gears and pulleys as the softail how can the 2nd thru 5th final drive ratio's be different.

I know this is an old post but I was looking for this information.
There is one piece of information missing though.
The reason your ratios are different between the Dyna and Softail (and maybe why the touring bike feels different) even thought he final drive ratio and transmission ratios are the same. I suspect that the primary drive ratio which is not listed is slightly different.
Softail example 1st gear 3.34:1 multiple by final drive 66/34 = 6.48:1 but 9.31:1 is listed this means the primary drive must be around 1.436:1
