ultra classic vs peace officer ultra classic
There is a used peace officer ultra classic for sale close to where I live. The price seems fairly reasonable but it hasn't sold. According to Kelley Blue Book it is priced under book value of an ultra classic. My question is, is there something alot different in the 2 bikes? Thanks in advance, Don

I don't know if there are any physical differences between the two but I have learned (from here actually) that police bikes sit and idle a lot. Long periods of idling doesn't sound like a good thing for an air cooled engine.
I'm not saying it is bad (because I don't know) just that it doesn't sound good.

Special paint, that's it.

Peace Officer is a special edition with special tank and dash badges and colors. They also do firefighter and Shriner special editions. Bike is exactly the same except for the color and badges.

I have a Peace Officer edition FLHTCUI. The only difference between it and any other Ultra is the paint scheme and a letter in the VIN that designates it as a special edition (same as a Shrine or Fire Fighter special). Mine is a 99 and has no "badges", though, so unless someone recognized the paint, or ran the VIN, they would never know the difference.

I know in the past they placed a plaque on the tank center cover that said "made for officer XXXXXX of the XXXXX police dept." and your badge number. I don't know if the do that any more. I'm going to look into an FD model Softail heritage before I retire. What the hell, we need one red one in the sea of blue I ride with.
