Riding Alone

Ever just want to go for a ride alone? This isn't something new to me, I've enjoyed this for years, but I'd just about as soon be the only bike to worry about. I pull up to a stop sign and decide then which way I'm going to turn. Did 170 miles yesterday in the mountains of NC. Good time and peaceful. Most of the guys that I ride with on 'rides' are still working and I'm retired now. Enjoy this a lot. Also, with cell phones etc, it's a lot mor comforting knowing there's help available if needed.

I would do that EVERY DAY if I could...

One of the best things about being retired!

Never ridden with a group - probably going to keep it that way. Once away from town and traffic kind of enjoy nothing but the scenery and sound of the exhaust.
Do worry sometimes about what happens if accidents happen or stuff quits working (a lot of my area is without cell phone service).

I love riding alone. No one to tell you how to ride, where to go, what to do. It's heaven

Yup..almost every day....riding alone! Maybe once a week with a fellow rider or two. And once or twice a week with the wife on back (weekends, or evenings after work).

But to and from work...and doing onsites all throughout the day for work...riding alone!

Did a 3 week, 5500 mile solo ride a couple summer's back. It was great. Like you said, no one to wait on or argue about which way to go. Take a break whenever you feel like it. Of course if something does go wrong it's nice to have a friend nearby.

I enjoy riding alone. I also enjoy not having a destination.

90% of my riding is alone and I love it. People seem stunned when I tell them I like to take off by myself for trips. My riding style is a little longer and harder than most I guess so this way I don't have to deal with any other opinions/attitudes or general B/S.

It seems most of my riding is solo, as I'm in the same situation. Being retired I can get out most weekdays for rides. Once the weekend comes life is pretty filled up with spending time with my GF and the rest of my friends who are still working. I never was a big group rider and I like it just fine. Once the rush hour is over most roads are empty and really great to ride. Never had any trouble with breakdowns or accidents so far.
