Default back fire issue help!

OK I've asked this question before and after more research and more adjustments nothing is working... this is a 2005 flh road king stage 1 air breather, stock exhaust, and supposedly "dyna jet kit" ? It definitely has some type of after market jet kit the jets are a different thread and the needle is bigger, its been drilled out so there's no going back... it only pops when I'm shifting gears and it loud one single pop like a gunshot everytime I've tried everything exhaust is tight, new plugs, cleaned the Carb in and out. Me and my father are pulling our hair put on this one any help would be great

It is possible to put that carb back to stock. A new piston assy, needle, and jets. I've heard a lot of bad stories about "dyna jet" kits. I'm sure there are some good conversions out there, just seems more bad than good.

Were just guessing that the Carb itself has been drilled out to fit a bigger velocity tube and needle

If you can duplicate the same backfire while cruising in gear and shutting the ignition off and imediately back on. If it pops the same it's a raw fuel in header pipe igniting. It is also likely you may have an exhaust leak at header flanges or at muffler to head pipe clamp. Get under bike with a flashlite and closely inspect area just in front of muffler clamps. Look for any trace marks of exhaust.

You can also try dialing back your accelerator pump linkage to take some raw fuel out of the equation. Have you confirmed your timing? Is your VOES connected & working? Proper heat range plugs with proper gap?
It does also indicate that your slide is not closing as fast as you are rolling off the wick. Check for proper spring tension on the slide or score marks that could indicate that it is scraping.
Hatch.

you sure your not overflowing the float bowls after having the carb apart? Did you set your float levels while you had the carb dismantled? When you say its been drilled out are you referring to the top of the slide, or the actual jet boss? You mention that the jets installed are a different thread. How did you install a jet into a jet boss with a different thread? All things considered id be looking at a new carb. If you dont allready have a mikuni thats what id be lookin at.
