Default Sheepskin seat covers

We rode all over NW Arkansas last weekend and I seen several bikes at the Rockin' Pig Saloon with different types of seat covers on them. I asked several about them and it seems that sheepskin covers are the favorite. We have a 700 mile trip over Labor Day weekend and I plan on having something on my road king.

Are they really worth it????

What do you have on your bike and where did you get it?

I haven't used one in years, but the sheepskin covers are very good at keeping your butt cool in the summer. Prevents you from getting monkey-butt.

Wouldn't be without mine on a long trip. Bought it from Wool-n-stuff outside Hill City, SD. Well worth whatever the price is.

They're nice and comfy in hot or cold, just take them off in the rain. If they get wet, the wool gets all matted, and they stink to high heaven.

Alaska leather butt pad.

Another option that doesn't mind the rain: HD Circulator butt pad.

Lots of good info in this thread: HD Circulator or sheepskin for touring

Merino sheepskin, I have a long haired one and a short haired one. The long haired ones will get matted, but I like the look. No problems with the short hair. Both about the same for comfort.

I had a buddy from New Zealand bring them over with him. Cost about 1/2 of what they cost here. Definitely worth it.

We love our sheepskin. Got it at a local shop. I bought the whole sheepskin & cut it to fit myself, but the guy also does custom fitting. WELL worth the investment, IMO.

I got a the longhair version from alaskaleather.com this spring to combat monkey butt here in N. Texas. It absolutely rocks.

45 to 60 minute daily commute home from work in worst heat I have ever ridden in (100+ for 40 straight days) and no issues...

Compare to my sportbike where I was battling heat rash all summer with Gold Bond Medicated Powder. I am now a believer.....

Plus, it makes my Fugly fuglier.... bonus.

I have one that I got from Sturgis HD. It fits over the whole seat. I never cut it down. It kind of acts like a heat shield. Girlfriend loves it. I won't go on a long ride without it.
