Patches... Earned, Symbolic or Decorative???
Guys.... just wondering.... I recently bought a new vest and was starting to look for some patches to start putting on. Got a few ideas of what i want and things i like. My buddy has an " i hate everyone" patch that i totally agree with and plan on buying, along with a gadsden "dont tread on me" patch and a few others... Heres my question/dilemma... are patches supposed to be one of those things that you pick up "along the way" kind of like tattos? Or are they a sort of put whatever you want whenever you see it type of deal? Aaaaand, is it bad/goofy to get a patch that another riding buddy has? I mean, im going to pretty much do whatever the hell i wanna do... but i just wanted to be informed either way. Cam

I don't wear patches, but I do wear a cool bracelet. It is important to me, it means if I am given penicillin I will die.
Actually, I don't wear a bracelet or am allergic to penicillin, just thought it was funny. :+)

Depends on the look you're going for and if you want a story with each patch. I will say I regret a couple on my vest for the few that I have (which I hardly wear) and don't like the big eagle on the back of my First Gear jacket as much as I used to after 9 years or so.

Some patches I have are earned, some are commemorative, some are just cause I like them.

Agree, wear what you want. It seems to be neater if there is a story behind it, like where you were, something stupid that happened and so forth. I for one will be getting some patches because I just plain like them but will be on the lookout for ones when I am out riding so that it can remind me of the time I had...
