I have an 1982 FXB Sturgis but it has the gold wheels and gold emblems...there is nothing orange on the bike. Can anyone tell me about the use of gold on my bike?

 

it shows gold wheels in the specs of my HD encylopedia for that year, only seen a few that way thru the years.

 

the gold fxb models were built for canadian export , and true , there are fewer of these from what i understand

 

Any threads regarding the ownership of an 82 FXB Sturgis model must be accompanied by pictures or they are not to be believed.

It is high on my "I want one" list.

 

Had an 81, lots of fun on that bike. Customized now but he saved the original parts. That shovelhead ...

I've got two Sturgii (?) my 82 is an actual
Canadian special edition with the gold maple
Leafs on tanks and front fender(47 produced)
. It came from factory with gold mags . My81 also
Has gold mags but can't confirm they came
From factory that way . 81 & 82, pieces were
getting slapped on willynilly . Pics in my albums

12 or so years ago, I had a friend that had a Sturgis it was red, with the gold wheels, & had a brown seat, he almost couldnt sell it due to the odd color.

 

The only " red" Sturgis , from factory at least, was
the "special Canadian". In 82, they produced
47 "special Cdn " which were Candy Burgandy,
With candy red panel, two gold pinstripes, and
silk screen maple leafs with Harley Davidson logo.
In 82, they made 1493 black/brown models with
gold rims. Also in 82, factory made 1077 black with orange
accents. Not saying it's not possible , but ... Have
Seen the brown seats on an FXS model.
