Default What Would A 51mm Performance Throttle Body Do ?

Is getting a larger throttle body like having your carb jetted ? What would it do ? Will it give any boost in HP ?

Unless there is head work for better flow, I don't think there will be an improvement.

Agreed. A big bore TB is called for when doing other engine mods. If you just slap one on you may not get enough velocity on the fuel charge. You're better off with a good high flow intake if you're not doing engine work.

Agreed !!! Velocity is an area that some people forget about...it doesn't matter how much air you bring in, if it's moving slow, the motor will not respond effectively...JMO

An engine is an air pump, efficiency is paramount if you stuff a ton of air in there and don't do it properly it will provide little if no gain.

If you increase air you have to increase fuel and you have to improve the exhaust.

There is a point of diminished results.

You'll probably need bigger jugs, improved fuel flow, better exhaust, cam compression ratio etc. It all works together to give good performance. You'll be wasting money. And depending on your current set up may make it worse.

no, not the same as jetting the carb, but rather it is more like putting a bigger carb on. unless your getting fuel starvation, it likely won't do much as others have stated.
