And then they try and deter you from buying with their ridiculously over priced shipping.......

Here in Brazil, things run on the same....

just to illustrate...a Harley leather jacket that easily can be bought from the dealer for around $325 (USD) can be had here in Brazil for $685 (USD)....same jacket...
a T-shirt (which are all made by R.K. Stratman) goes for $80 (USD)...

so one can imagine how costly the parts & clothing are to us...even though there's an assembly line at the free trade zone, the sidestep for the import tariffs are just for the motorcycles (even though the motorcycles are still costly....an 883 Iron goes for $14.735 - USD)

if the dealer moves more product, the MOCO sells more parts

the dealer is the one taking the hit
The dealer's aggree to franchise aggreements and part of that aggreement is to sell parts at retail and maintain a profit margin to keep thie lights on, and also not to directly compete with fellow dealers doing business according to their aggreement with the mfg . Dont you guys ever get it. This has been discussed over and over. It is set up for the preservation of the dealer, not to sell us parts and acces' at a discount.

i also read a lot about 'selling outside dealer territory', but have not read any official moco information that says this. i have only heard this third or fourth hand. and again, if that were the case, how am i still getting my parts at discount when where i order from is way outside my local 'territory'?

everyone keeps shouting 'moco greed', when from what i understand, the moco is only reacting to what a lot of the dealers want. they aren't just making **** up at random.....

guess i'm just confused
+1, you get it: that's 2 now.
