MSF or Riders Edge

MSF or Riders Edge
Has anyone taken both classes. Is there any benefit to the $300 Riders Edge course over the $25 MSF class. Going to sign my wife up for one or the other.

MSF is an excellent course designed to take a student who has never ridden a motorcycle to the ability to pass a written and riding course in 3 days. For the price you can't go wrong. I had been riding for 30 years and took the course because I demanded my sons take it and didn't want to be a hypocrite. I learned a lot. The bikes are provided. They are 250cc. They have several makes so you can get one that fits her well. I will say one thing though. Let your wife take it alone, not with you being there.

My MSF was 2 days: 12 hours @$250. Wife took Riders Edge at Skip Fordyce: 5 days - 22 hours @$300. MSF was fine for me since I already knew how to ride and just needed a refresher. It would not have been enough for her with zero experience. HD program was great for her.

Took Rider's Edge after not riding for 30 years. 25 hrs and it was excellent, well worth the $299. We even had some good rain! Passed with flying colors, got a deal on insurance, and it replaced the riding portion for the CA DL. MSF around here is $150 and it's 2 days. Haven't taken it but I know a couple of riders who have--based on their stories, I am really happy I went with RE. I also went to Skip Fordyce in Riverside, CA.

They're the same MSF course. The difference in price is Rider's Edge is HD's for profit class and most of the MSF courses taught at community colleges are subsidized by the state they're in. That's why it's $25 in Michigan. The MSF course is usually one or two days and the Rider's Edge is spread out over several weekends. Personally, I'd take the MSF course if it's available in your area and save yourself some money.
