Thumbs up Harley's Demo Seat Program

With "What's the best seat?" as probably one of the top 3 questions asked on this forum, I wanted to share a bit of information I learned while at Bike Week in Daytona.

At the end of this month HD will release a "Demo Seat" program. Your local dealers will have seats that you will be able to try out on your bike for a day or up to a week (I assume the time-frame will be up to you dealer). The seats will have "DEMO SEAT" in bright orange printed all over it. You're clearly letting the world know you're borrowing a seat. Try it out, take it back to the dealer and either purchase one for yourself if you like it, or do nothing, no obligation.

I think this is a great program. We know seats are not cheap! And most of us seem to upgrade in some form or another, sometimes multiple times trying to get it right.

I'll be checking out the Hammock seat, looking forward to it. Cause my Mustang just isn't for me....

That's a great idea. I wonder if the HD dealers will also offer seats from other manufacturers for the demo.

Doubt it strongly, but you never know; it's all about the shekels

Excellent! For me it's pretty much between the new hammock seat and the inflatable zeppelin that I'm struck between. A demo ride will help me decide.

That Hammock is super nice. It's my tailbone that kills me after a while in the saddle. Maybe the Hammock will be the answer.

I always wondered why there wasn't a program like this already. Seats ARENT cheap and if you end up not liking the one you bought, you're stuck with it, unless there was a REALLY good return policy on it...

Thank GAWD!!! I was just at my dealer last week asking them if they demo'd seats. The guy at the parts counter said if they had one in stock I could buy it, and return it within 30 days "unused" if I decided I didn't want it. Of course, the one I wanted, they don't keep in stock. Therefore, I would have to pay a 20% restocking fee if I wanted to return it. 20% of a $400 is still a good chunk of change.

Just curious OP, where did you find this bit of info?

The HD tent at Bike Week. The HD Employee was part of the Parts and Accersories team that was on site. Seemed pretty knowledgable. They had some of the "Demo Seats" there. You'll know it's a demo seat from a mile away with all the orange print all over it. He said the seats should be at the dealers by the end of month.
