I have been a member for 3 years. I got a loud pipes ticket once and they sent a lawyer to my hearing twice. For 20.00 bucks a year I dont think you can go wrong. They have lobbyists in each state and do a decent job at tracking bills and also introducing new pro mc bills to the state.
I like ABATE. Attend lots of events they advertise or are involved in.
I'm not involved in the local group and don't go to meetings but they could be an opportunity to meet some new riding friends.
ABATE as a whole is a very worth while organization. They are advocates of motorcyclist everywhere. I did not have a good experience with an ABATE local director. Was a reckless rider and hoping from bar to bar is not conducive to safe riding in my opinion.
Yeah, they do a good job. Them and the AMA kept on tormenting the State
Legislature here in NC and finally got the Helmet Law tightened up to where
you have to have a DOT helmet, (ie the mushroom shaped lid),so no Beanies
unless DOT approved.

Attend a meeting and see what we're all about. Keep an open mind. Chapters can differ in personality. Try a couple of chapters and see how they differ. You don't even have to join a chapter, at least not here in Washington. You can be an independent. But a chapter is the way to go if you want to be involved. We work hard for all rider's rights. But we also know how to have a good time.
