Hope the friend comes through this and heals well.

A week ago I was two up and came over a small rise to see a huge (live) dog on my side of the road. I slowed down considerably before it registered there was a person holding the dog by a leash. I was glad to see I would react by slowing and looking for escape routes.

Better to be cautious than tangle with animals while on a bike.
