Default Buying for less than MSRP?

New to the forum and first post. I will definitely be here often and hopefully contributing soon. I'm not a HD owner yet but hope to be riding a Street Glide very shortly. I found a site that says the 2012 Street Glide dealer invoice is 15,599 on a 19,499 MSRP. Nobody wants to pay MSRP, but I have no idea if I can expect to do any better. Can I expect to knock some dollars off and if so, any thoughts on how much? I know a lot of factors come into play here. Any advice would be very much appreciated. I live in Denver, CO if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance for your feedback

dave

Odds are you won't get below MSRP, you may be able to get some free add ons or free 1k service, discounts on parts, things like that. But most dealers get at least MSRP or a bit more.

I have never paid MSRP for anything. My last 3 bikes (2 HD's) were at least $1k below. Keep shopping.

Depends on each dealer. I can and do get from $750 to $1,500 off plus other stuff. A couple of things influence that. I pay cash and I buy 1 to 2 new bikes a year. The dealer loves to make me happy with the deal.

On my Fat Bob, 3 dealers wouldn't budge and 1 did. Guess who got my business. It's going to take finding the dealer wanting to turn inventory. 2013's are coming out in a couple of months, could be a good time to get a deal on a 2012.

Winter, maybe - but this time of the year you are not going to do much better than msrp. especially in your part of the world.

If you can wait until fall, the price on 2012's will naturally go down as the newer 2013's roll out.

If you can get a new one for $15,999 go for it. You might search for a used 2011 or 2012. Maybe one that already has aftermarket exhaust or some mods that you were thinking about getting anyway. Good luck. Welcome to the forum. Keep us posted as to what you end up doing. I'm in the Denver area.

I just bought a Wide Glide from a Denver dealer... I shopped around a bit and was given $500 off. It was a special they were running at the time (late March), but it did essentially pay for "set up" and license paperwork add on fees.

This was also at one of the two dealerships that I felt welcome at...

The price to me wasn't out of the question for the joy that I knew I was going to reap from the purchase so I didn't really try to haggle.

If ya want more details and info on any of my Denver (area) experiences, PM me and I'll give ya what I can....

Ride on

Junior
