Stator Problems at HD?

Have a new 2012 Ultra Limited. It has 875 miles on it. Saturday on 200 mile trip the stator went out leaving me stranded. I bought the bike for long trips. Trying to get 1000 miles on it before upcoming trip to TN, KY and VA. Now I question reliability. Anyone else having stator or regulator problems on new bikes?

The stator on my 06 Heritage Classic went out at 20K, about a year after I bought it new. It was replaced under warranty and have had no problem with it since. Bike now has 78K on the clock.

Seems like a fluke to me. I've got 6800 on the Fat Boy Lo I bought new this past November and no stator problems so far.

My voltage regular went out last week with only 3000 miles on my 2010 Fat Bob.
Dealer said they were seeing regulator problems on some of the new touring bikes.
Maybe others will post if this is a problem to watch for. Seems strange to go out with so few miles on the bikes.

My stator went out after 22,000 miles and 8 years. But it never had a problem until I went to Mobil gear oil...................HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Why would you run gear oil in your primary?

Because he has a Sportster, which has a shared primary/tranny and the recommended oil is Formula+ which is a Gear Oil.

They can have their formula + gear oil. My starter went out on my '09 uc last month fixed under the extended warranty and while there at it they changed the stator and clutch cable. They put in the Formula +Oil but I have always run syn 3 in all three holes and last year I started running some Lucas oil stabilizer in all 3 (which is amazing stuff top end noise gone can find Neutral with a touch) now it's back to hearing the shift clunk and hunting for neutral.

I put 50k on 05 RKC,and now have 25k on 2010 Ultra with no problem.I have friends that had stator and compensator problems on late models though.

I've seen stators on older bike go bad within a short time after they were replaced. There tough, the magnet will suckup anything within a half mile.
I always figured the installer screwed it up. Maybe they have some bozos at the factory now.
