Default HD museum & power plant factory (a review)

Last year, I won the HD Ride the Rockies Passport tour contest and got a trip for 2 to Milwaukee to tour the museum and the power plant factory.

Went on the trip last week and I will say the museum is a must see. Starting with the first bike ever produced and leading up to modern times with tons of interesting historical facts and exhibits along the way. We got the behind the scenes tour and that included being able to see the archive room where literally hundreds of bikes with some sort of historical significance are stored.

After the half day museum tour, were shuttled to the power plant factory to see how the engines are made. Also very educational and entertaining.

We stayed at the Iron Horse hotel and I was very impressed with the amenities. Granted it's kinda pricey but since HD contest promotions was footing the bill, I have no complaints.

This was my first trip to Wisconsin and had to try the cheese curds and the Spotted Cow beer. Both top notch in my eyes. Also got to attend a bike night at the museum and visit the House Of Harley.

All in all a great 3 days that were packed with every possible Harley activity (except riding them) a tourist poser like myself could ask for.

Highly recommended.

Glad you enjoyed it! Very jealous that you got to get in the archives!

Glad you had a good time. You must have been there for the first bike night last Thurs. Cheryl and I stopped in for a bit. Big crowd, good time. Love the museum but I have never done the steel toe tour. It's on my list. I would love to see the archives. I just stand outside the chainlink fence drooling.

I arranged a stopover in Milwaukee on a business trip to SFO. Unfortunately the Steel Toe is booked on the only day I can make it . There are group bookings so I can't get on a standby list either.

Reading the first post I should do the Back Roads Tour in the museum so I will book that.

Anyone suggestions for a hotel?
