Why It's Called A Road King

The wife and I took "our" bike out for a spin today. We ended up cranking it down the NJ Turnpike for an hour or so each way, as well as doing some local windies at each end. The air had a slight snap to it on the way down and we were cooking on the way back. (I gotta put an intercom in my 1/2 helmet - the 3/4 gets to sweaty) From startup to pacing at near 80 (in the right lane) the bike performed flawlessly. It's nimble in a parking lot as well as amply powered for the highway.

I am so happy with my choice of bikes! A little under 2 years to get it set up the way we like it and now just passing the 10,000 mile mark. It truely is the KING of the road!

I think we are in the same boat (i own a Heritage)

From my understanding the Road King is a "Touring Bike" stripped down to be more of a bar-hopper when needed. The heritage is a Bar-Hopper fully clothed to touch on touring when needed.

We are both enjoying the best of both worlds!!

Enjoy man. I feel the exact same way. In fact i recently contemplated buying a new bike, and after many thoughts i decided i might buy a brand new Heritage.

It fits me perfectly.

Now if only i could have a true touring seat ... :(

Nothing wrong with an RK, glad you enjoy it. :icon_clapclap:

I have a 2011 Limited. I have really been impressed with this bike. We put 10K on her last year most of it was a trip out west. We looked at the RK, but ended up going with the Electra Glide. These two bikes really are Kings!

Glad you're enjoying it! I don't know the answer other than what you stated; "King of the Road". I don't own a RK but it was between a regular RK and EG Standard for me and I went with the EG, which I really like. The Road King is basically what the original Electra Glide was. I really should replace the EG and FXDXI with a Road King next year just to eliminate one motorcycle.

They don't call it a Road King for nothin', as you well know. I've had 2 of them and will probably have a 3rd. Great lookin' King you have. It's a beauty dressed out it black.

They call it a Road King, the same way they call it a Corolla, Camaro, Silverado.. It's just a name that fits

I'm one week into my RK and it truly is the King of the Road

If and when I get a bagger it will be a RK. I'm stuck between the standard RK or the RKC. I really love the look of the Classic, but is it worth the premium? I know the RKC has the 103, but I'm not sure I'm sold on that as an absolute upgrade.

Can't argue with that. Road King fits because it's King of the Road!!! Got over 16K on my 2011 and it's been the best 16K miles I've ever spent on a motorcycle.
